Lizzy's Green

video

After a month of training in and around Asheville, NC Lizzy English shatters the previous female record at the illustrious Green River Race only to come up short by 2 seconds to Green Race veteran Robina Betz by 2 seconds. In addition to a fast time, Lizzy and her female competitors became the first group to race in the class of Iron Women that had them running the green not just once but twice testing the ladies skill and speed in two different length categories of kayaks.

The course which took Lizzy 5 minutes and 25 seconds is said to be the most technical and perilous in the world of extreme whitewater racing. A number of the other racers in this years race DNFed due to swims or big impacts. Luckily the safety at the race is also the most well staffed and full on on the kayak racing cirquit saving competitors from serious injury.

Check out this clip from Lizzy's short boat run through the meat of the Green River Narrows.

Enjoy!!
